2weeks ago, constructed some gantries in a rented shop and pulled the Airstream shell off. Trailer frame rust repair, new aluminum under skin, and new wood subfloor. Today the shell went back on, with only a moderate amount of swearing.
The GF and I are both in the "not eligible to stay-at-home" medical field, so we feel pretty good about the rate of progress.

Congrats on the progress, and stay healthy as best you can

There are two types of RV’s I’ve always wanted. A vintage Airstream and this...
Both have their ad
vantages, but either would be extremely awesome.

Gadamn! That is a mighty impressive amount of work done in that short of a time frame!

Looking good! I've always loved airstreams.
Stay safe out there, hope you both stay healthy.

Well thanks for making me feel lazy by comparison! But seriously, good for you!

I’m amazed at your progress. My cousin posted this photo and I thought of your build:

Damn! I’d love to know where that was taken.
Because kinja fuckery, the only pix I can click to embiggen or open in a new tab are ones in a post body, not in comments - that freezes the page, requiring a refresh to do anything. Doesn’t matter what platform or browser.

It’s from a meme. There are other images without the Airstream photoshopped in, so the whole thing could be a photoshop. At least one place claims it’s from an ad for a winch.

It’s real (sans trailer). Was done for a Warn ad. Black Bear Pass in CO IIRC.

I wanna say it came up in a Dirt Every Day episode, but could be extremely wrong. Sometime somewhere I saw someone talk about the history behind the whole thing and it was neat.

we do live in the Colorado mountains, so that’s only a slight exaggeration here.

The Airstream appears to be photoshopped in because I found this picture with GIS

Yeah, someone else posted that too. Regardless, it’s a badass shot - and I’m glad I’m not the one driving!

Removing the airstream just brings it back down to normal insanity level lol
